Tuesday 7th October, 10.30pm - Neil McCormick's Needle Time: Joan Armatrading
There’s a lot of ‘Love and Affection’ in the Needle Time studio as the legendary Joan Armatrading is welcomed for a chat about her career. And what a career! There was no-one like this Caribbean-born singer songwriter and guitarist when she emerged on the scene in the seventies, and she continued to very much forge her own way with original emotional laden songs including ‘Me Myself I’, ‘Down to Zero’ and ‘Drop The Pilot’. She is made to make music, she tells interviewer Neil, and it all began with a piano her mum bought for the front room.
Wednesday 8th October, 2.00pm - Joe Swash: My Mixtape
Crowned king of the jungle on TV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ you would expect actor and presenter Joe Swash to be right royally entertaining with his My Mixtape collection. And he is! He couldn’t chose between Blur and Oasis back in the Britpop day, so he sticks a song from both on, he reveals why corny is cool, and he gives a nod to ‘fellow ginger’ Ed Sheeran.
Wednesday 8th October, 10.30pm - Live With: Glenn Tilbrook
We’re going ‘Up the Junction’ for the debut airing of our exciting new show, with cool cat Glenn Tilbrook. On ‘Live With…’, kicking off with the lead singer and guitarist of beloved English pop, rock and new wave outfit Squeeze, and a successful solo artist to boot, we are inviting top artists to perform exclusively for Vintage TV. Glenn will be singing several songs including ‘Persephone’ and ‘Ray’.
Thursday 9th October, 10.30pm - Shirlie Kemp: My Vintage
Shirlie Kemp of pop duo Pepsi and Shirlie and backing singer of Wham, looks to the 60s and 70s for much of her top song choices on My Vintage. She hits the high notes with Minnie Riperton, reveals the record she bought on vinyl from Woolworths and couldn’t resist ‘Careless Whisper’ by good friend George Michael. She’s an 80s good time girl with a show full of frothy fun – not to be missed!
Friday 10th October, 11.00pm - The Vintage TV Sessions
It’s nothing if not eclectic down at the Bedford pub in Balham where this month’s brilliant batch of artists are doing their stuff live for The Vintage TV Sessions. And it’s a wonderfully wide range of music on offer from our performers at the gig hosted by Mitch Winehouse, Amy’s swing crooner dad. Sit back and enjoy the music from international artist Peter Andre, country girls Ward Thomas, rock and pop journeyman Paul Carrack, singer songwriter Sharon Corr of The Corrs, and British Pop group The Manfreds, reformed from Manfred Mann.
Saturday 11th October, 7.00pm - Neil McCormick's Needle Time: Sandie Shaw
In this episode of Needle Time, Neil talks Roy Orbison, Frankie Valli, Jools Holland and Neil Morrisey with none other than 60s pop princess, and the first UK act to win the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967, Sandie Shaw. Sandie and Neil take a look back at the singer’s youth, her desire to see the world and her early intention to join the armed forces. Sandie relives her early teens as a factory worker dreaming of stardom, recalls her determination to make it on her own as a woman in a man’s world, producing all her own records herself, and charts the intriguing arc of a lifelong career in pop.

The published memoirs of legendary Creation Records founder Alan McGee will surely be a must-read, and now one of the most colourful and influential characters on the UK independent music scene, who signed Oasis and managed the likes of The Libertines, spills the beans on his top pop picks – from Bowie to My Bloody Valentine, Daft Punk to Dylan. Alan’s My Vintage is sure to be the audio equivalent of a page-turner!
