Channel Highlights w/c 14th December

Saturday 14th December, 7.00pm - Neil McCormick’s Needle Time: Sheila E

She was on the sticks for Prince and she’s performed with the likes of Marvin Gaye, but drummer and percussionist Sheila E has always lived life to her own beat, she tells interviewer Neil, whether finding her way as a female artist in a mostly male domain, losing herself in music or getting teary-eyed with her musician dad on stage.

Sunday 15th December, 5.00pm - Alan McGee: My Vintage (and Thursday 19th December at 10pm)

The just-published memoirs of legendary Creation Records founder Alan McGee will surely be a must-read, and now one of the most colourful and influential characters on the UK independent music scene, who signed Oasis and managed the likes of The Libertines, spills the beans on his top pop picks – from Bowie to My Bloody Valentine, Daft Punk to Dylan.  Alan’s My Vintage is sure to be the audio equivalent of a page-turner!

Sunday 15th December, 7.00pm - Toyah’s Vintage Christmas

Prepare to cosy up with our yuletide-loving pop princess presenter Toyah Willcox as she pulls out all the stops for your holiday viewing pleasure and takes us on a nostalgic journey through some of the most memorable Christmas videos of the 20th Century, sprinkled with a generous handful of fun festive facts.

 Monday 16th December, 1.00pm - A Very Vintage Christmas

Enjoy an early Christmas lunch with all the trimmings with presenters Toyah Willcox and Wizzard’s Roy Wood as they get up close and personal by the Vintage TV hearth with two guest artists on our new show, chatting about what Christmas means to them and singing favourite festive songs.

Tuesday 17th December, 10.00pm - Neil McCormick’s Needle Time: Leo Sayer (and Saturday 21st December at 7pm)

From the moment the big-haired singer songwriter and all-round entertainer Leo Sayer donned a clown outfit as his distinctive trademark, the show has gone on for the one man band. He tells interviewer Neil about his incredible life in music, which has made him feel like dancing for the past four decades now.

Wednesday 18th December, 7.30pm - Vintage TV at Rewind 2013 (and Friday 20th December at 5.30pm)

With the winter nearly upon us, what could be better than snippets of summer to warm and cheer? Janice Long has the perfect pick-me-ups for you in the form of two mini interviews from performers at this year’s Rewind festival: 80s idol Nik Kershaw who definitely won’t let the sun go down on us, and Heaven 17 who had a huge hit with ‘Temptation’ in that decade.
