Sunday 16th June, 6.30pm - Happy Father’s Day Playlist
Tune in to Vintage TV for the daddy of all playlists. This hour-long Father’s Day special features tracks from some truly influential men and the talented offspring that followed in their fathers’ footsteps. Ewan MacColl and his Kirsty, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Paul Simon and Harper Simon all feature in this selection of work from musical dads, chips off the old block, and the apples that didn’t fall far from the tree.
Tuesday 18th June, 10.00pm - Neil McCormick's Needle Time (and Saturday 22nd June at 7pm)
In this episode of Needle Time, Ian Anderson, MBE and recipient of the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement, joins Neil McCormick for a frank and open discussion of his career to date. Anderson’s musical career spans almost half a century and has seen him take an extraordinary range of instruments into his playing arsenal, including the acoustic guitar, the bass, bouzouki, saxophone, harmonica, a variety of whistles and, of course famously, the flute. The lead vocalist of British rock band Jethro Tull, who hails from Fife, has mastered a range of genres, from Prog rock to blues and even world music. Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull have released a whopping 30 studio albums, selling more than 60 million copies since the band first performed at London’s famous Marquee Club in 1968. Anderson himself has performed at more than 3000 concerts in 40 countries over 4 decades, typically playing at over 100 concerts each year.
