Saturday 6th July, 7.00pm - Neil McCormick’s Needle Time: Tom Robinson

British singer-songwriter, bassist and radio presenter, Tom Robinson, is best known for the hits ‘Glad to be Gay’, ‘Don’t Take No for an Answer’ and ‘2-4-6-8 Motorway’. Responsible for penning ‘War Baby’, about divisions between East and West Germany, Robinson has always taken an active role in commentating on issues of a socio-political nature. A supporter of Amnesty International, ‘OutRage!’, and a leader of the Rock Against Racism campaign, he joins Neil McCormick for another episode of Needle Time and a thoughtful look back over his career in the music industry.

 

Sunday 7th July, 5.30pm - Steve Hackett: My Vintage (and Wednesday 10th July at 11pm)

London-born Steve Hackett is one fifth of the classic Genesis line-up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford and has worked with innumerable talents, from Paul Carrick to Bonny Tyler and from John Wetton to Brian May (who counts Steve amongst his earliest influences). Steve experienced the changing face of the 60s first hand and was initiated early into the writings of Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus. Following a musical path, Steve would regularly post ads in the Melody Maker, until one day Peter Gabriel answered his call… Join the Genesis guitarist as he introduces his favourite hits, from Alice Cooper’s ‘School’s Out’ and Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Go Your Own Way’, to Paul McCartney & Wings’ ‘Live And Let Die’, it’s a classic vintage playlist not to be missed. 

 

Sunday 7th July, 6.30pm - Bruce Springsteen: The Boss (and Tuesday 9th July at 8pm and Friday 12th July at 10pm)

There can only be one. Over four decades, Bruce Springsteen has defined himself as a cultural phenomenon: a dark storyteller, a folk revivalist, a working-class hero, a force for political and social change, an eloquent songwriter and an unabashed party-rocker. Here, we present an hour of classic hits from “The Boss” himself. Expect ‘Born To Run’, ‘Dancing In The Dark’, ‘Spirit In The Night’, ‘Streets of Philadelphia’ and ‘Born In The USA’.

Vintage TV brings you a delicious taster of 2013’s Rewind festival and this year the line-up’s as delectable as ever. Friday 12th July, 11.00pm - Steve Harley: My Vintage
